UMCSAWM ESD_WI project which emphasize the importance of sustainable water infrastructure, reaches a higher pedestal rising above the contributions from a multitude of successful community empowerment and community awareness enhancement projects.
This project demonstrates the fruitful steps of UMCSAWM aligning with the global vision to fulfill the dream of a sustainable world by means of ESD_WI (Education for Sustainable Development of Water Infrastructure). This is an inspirational model that fills the deficit in the critical mass which is required to lead and implement sustainable water resources management in the South Asian region. UMCSAWM project is the beacon of light that shows the safest port in the land of sustainability, for those who are seeking to conquer the rough seas of environmental destruction. Community empowerment and knowledge enhancement projects which educate general public and other stakeholders on the value of water could be seen as the boats with hope of survival. Still the most essential component of sustainable development is to empower the water practitioners to facilitate the provision of sustainable water infrastructure.
The prime objective of the UMCSAWM sustainable water resources management project is to promote regional cooperation through high quality South Asian Water Management Education & Research. Individual problem based projects dealt in each subject module is a special feature of the program. In case of each intake, the UMCSAWM project with the sponsorship of the South Asia Foundation offers 8 fulltime MSc scholarships for SAARC country participants. The project offers MSc Degree, Postgraduate Diploma & capacity building programs in the integrated management of water resources, while carrying out field based pioneering research which utilizes cutting edge technology, scientific principles & traditional practices to solve field problems. In each subject module dissemination of knowledge to practitioners with the target of efficient transformation, is carried out with the help of advanced education & training methods focusing on how to solve field problems which arise when implementing sustainable water infrastructure development and water resources management.
